As a parent, I’m sometimes put into that situation where every parent asks themselves, “is my kid sick-sick or fake-sick?” It can sometimes be hard to tell. It can sometimes even be obviously exaggerated, but rooting in a real feeling of being ill. KIBSD Nurses have provided some clear guidelines for parents on this topic.
In summary, do the following.
Check for a fever at or above 100.4 degrees.
Watch for vomiting.
Watch for diarrhea.
Listen for severe coughing.
Check for rashes of unknown origin.
If any of these pop up, you should keep your child home and you can call our school nurse for more advice if needed. 907-486-7486
On a related subject, our school staff occasionally get sick too, and our Peterson sub pool is low. We went without subs for multiple days in classrooms recently. Please consider becoming a substitute.
