It’s Parent Teacher Conferences! Come see your child’s classroom, talk to their teacher, see their work, sign up to volunteer, and visit the book fair! It’s a good time. Also, during this conference we will have a parent learning opportunity. Meet in the cafeteria to learn the steps your child uses to solve problems at school, and learn methods you can use to support behavior in the home. Our child psychologist intern Amanda Sanford will be presenting. Stop by and say hello for a giveaway.
Attached below you will find a great resource published by the Harvard Graduate School of Education. This pamphlet helps to understand the purpose of Parent Teacher Conferences and you can best take advantage of this time. Here are a couple of key takeaways.
Expect a two-way conversation on learning opportunities, challenges, and celebrations.
Ask about progress.
Share your own thoughts on your child.
Ask about how you can best support your child at home.
Ask about the school can support your child.
Follow up by talking to your child about what you learned in this meeting.
I look forward to seeing you on Monday or Tuesday.
